Drawn to the Water: A Love Passed Down

Water has always been a part of my life. Whether it’s the vast ocean stretching into the horizon, the gentle waves lapping at the shore, or the rhythmic sound of a river flowing, something about water brings me peace. My son shares this love. Maybe it’s the way water seems to erase stress, offering a sense of calm and clarity. Maybe it’s the endless adventure it provides—swimming, boating, jet skiing, or simply floating under the sun.

But what really drives us to the water?

The Call of the Water

There’s a reason why so many people feel drawn to water. It’s not just about the fun or the scenery; it’s something deeper. Science even backs it up—being near water can reduce stress, improve mental clarity, and boost happiness. Some call it the "Blue Mind" effect, a term used to describe the sense of peace we feel when we're near, in, on, or under water.

For me and my son, water represents both escape and connection. It’s where we unwind, leaving behind the noise of everyday life. It’s where we bond—sharing laughs while dodging waves, challenging each other in a race to the shore, or simply sitting in silence, watching the sun reflect off the water.

Beyond that, water holds a certain mystery. It’s unpredictable yet familiar. It’s powerful yet soothing. Whether it's the ocean, a lake, or even a pool, being near water feels like being home.
